Bootarate is the project of two childhood friends who grew up in Selva, a small village in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana in Mallorca. This area’s shoemaking industry was known around the world until globalisation began to take their toll.
Pep is a shoe designer. Trained in London, he specialises in the anatomical and aesthetic design of shoes. He represents the third generation of a well-known family of shoemakers from the island and he has always followed the traditions of Majorcan shoemaking. You might say he has a head for feet! The majority of his career has been dedicated to the leather factory that was founded by his grandfather in Selva in 1927.
